Brazilian national center for molecular diagnosis in inherited cardiac arrhythmias

Abstract

Sudden cardiac death is an important cause of mortality, particularly in young. The goal of this project is to implement a rational family screening program in the public health system to prevent sudden cardiac death. The proposed model enables delivery of genetic predictive tool in decentralized fashion with standardization of points of care to support arrhythmia centers in Brazil. The proposal encompasses also training and continuous education to give a broad access to the genetic testing in general. We will focus initially at patients from the Heart Institute of the Faculty of Medicine, University of São Paulo (InCor-HCFMUSP) and rapidly expand to the various partners centers of arrhythmia similarly to what we have accomplished with the Hipercol Brasil.
