Abstract

The presence of toxic elements, including pharmacological compounds, agrotoxins and heavy metals, in the environment have been associated with increased frequency of disruption to the general health. Added to this effect, factors such as obesity and senility also contribute to alterations of different parameters of the organism. These disruptions vary from morphological to endocrine and physiological modifications, occurring in different organs. On the other hand, substances such as mate tea, jaboticaba and propolis are rich in fenolic compounds that have anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory effects, besides acting as hormonal regulators and on the control of body weight. This project is subdivided into subprojects, that analize the physiological and morphological damage caused by the endocrinological alterations applied to the animals (Isotretinoin, Ametryn, Hyperlipidic diet and cadmium) to be verified on the parameters of the intestines, testicles, prostate, and epididymis. This project intends to evaluate the modifications caused by these agents, at the histologiacal (structural and ultrastructural), molecular and biochemical levels, as well as the possible protective effect of the compounds used in the treatments (propolis extract, mate tea, and the extract of jaboticaba peel) in Wistar rats or FVB mice. Therefore, the animals were divided into groups for the different treatments according to the research to be made in each subproject. After the experiment, the animals were anesthesized, with an intraperitoneal injection of Ketamin and Xylasin, euthanized, and their organs were collected. The patterns of glicemia, hormones, biochemical, inflammatory and morphological characteristics, as well as the immunomarking of various antigens and the apoptic indeces will be determined according to the questions to be answered in each subproject.
