The Alto Tietê Cabeceiras has extensive areas of Atlantic Forest and it is an economically important region for the state of São Paulo. It is responsible for producing large amounts of fruits and vegetables; besides eucalyptus intended especially for paper production. Studies on Formicidae diversity show the existence of seven morphological species of Solenopsis in the region, but only one was identified. Reports of farmers show concern for the "ants-of-fire." Thus, the purpose of this project is the study of biological, ecological and genetic species of Solenopsis in the different landscapes making up the Alto Tietê Basin. We expect our results provide technical and scientific knowledge to support programs aiming at the region sustainability, besides showing the distribution area of S. invicta, since it is a species that cause serious economic damage and its expansion in the State of São Paulo is the subject of academic interest.Keywords: Atlantic Forest, greenbelt, Barcode, diversity, richness.
