GEOGRAPHY METHODOLOGICAL GUIDELINES ORIENTED TOWARD GEOGRAPHY TEACHERS FOR SAO PAULO HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATION (1934-1960)

Abstract

These research projects is aimed at identifying and understand which methodological guidelines the first geography teachers were oriented to, working in Sao Paulo State schools between the years 1934 to 1960. These are historical background research, documental and bibliographic literature to be developed through identification procedures, meeting, organization and analysis of documentary sources referring to the aspects of the first graduation course curriculum, for secondary teachers of Geography, offered by Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciencias e Letras (FFCL), Universidade de São Paulo (USP) and in its Institute of Education. Methodological guidelines are emphasized, stemming from Geography and Pedagogy while used as theoretical training "matrixes". We will focus on to what extent the FFCL, USP graduation course helped to foster reflection on the relationship between theory and teaching practice in Geography teaching, dichotomy still in season today in the process of training Geography teachers.
