Translation and cultural adaptation of the instrument predictors of assistive technology use

Abstract

The high rate of assistive technology abandonment may be related to a failure in the evaluation process , which results in a mismatch between the needs of the user , the environment of use, and the supplied device. Thus , it is important to provide in Portuguese instruments assessing investigates the experiences and feelings of users about the technologies used. The study aims to translate and culturally adapt to the Portuguese instrument Healthcare Technology Device Predisposition Assessment ( HCT- PA ), which make up the conceptual model Matching Person and Technology (MPT ). The translation process and cultural adaptation will following international recommendations : 1) translation into Portuguese; 2 ) reconciled translation ; 3 ) back translation ; 4 ) ; final translation ; 5 ) pre-test ; 6) cultural adaptation.
