Abstract

The disposal of solid waste is one of the immediate applications of smart cities technologies, and falls within the main technological routes of low technological maturity and lead to the future, particularly in new technological developments in mitigating or adapting to climate change. Among the principles and instruments introduced by the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS), highlight the shared responsibility for the life cycle of products and reverse logistics .The REDERESÍDUOS is an online platform that innovates in reverse logistics, management and marketing of waste. It aims to promote management in the collection of waste, reducing the cost of operations and ensuring the management and marketing with competitive prices. The objective of this project is to implement functionality for tracking and telemetry bins and buckets on existing REDERESÍDUOS platform, allowing its use in solid waste management in smart and sustainable cities. Our goal is to provide the creation of a management and monitoring system, comprehensive and innovative, for the entire chain of reverse logistics and other processes involved in waste management and sustainability. Project benefits: innovation in the integrated waste management; meet intelligent cities (smart cities) with telemetry and tracking of bins and buckets devices; automatically collect information in the generation, collection, compression, transportation, recycling, reuse and treatment of solid waste; reduce traffic and facilitation of vehicle and pedestrian traffic in urban centers; improve the positioning control of the trash cans and buckets; allow business practices and relationships of reverse logistics chain and recycling of waste traceability at all stages; perfect bins and buckets; optimize reverse logistics; enable agile management of lots of marketable waste. System components: trash cans and buckets; individual and collective platform. Challenges: developing communication mechanisms and data collection equipment; validate the technology and expand its use; market the solution in a reactive market, informal and difficult governance; empower organizations participating in the use of equipment and processes; approved participants of ecosystems in a transparent and simplified manner; add value to participants and society. Considering the volume and designing the reverse logistics operations of waste and amount of municipalities that have the potential to implement technological innovations and focusing on optimizing mobility through the telemetry and tracking of municipal solid waste stream expectations for the next three years is achieve 1% (one percent) of the national market share - seven municipalities in southeastern Brazil. We estimate a savings of $ 5.19 million in direct costs, excluding the positive externalities and impacts of improved urban mobility. Our business model based on sucess fee of the economy, generating funds of approximately R $ 1.3 million per year. (AU)
