Assessment of the potential for improvement of hearing health through clinical study randomized double-blind trial:Consumer satisfaction with the amplification with a new hearing aid of high performance-WHO-Inc compared to existing digital heairing aid

Abstract

This study compares the relative effectiveness of the high performance digitally programmable analogue technology BTE devices versus advanced 8-channel digital device in 60 adults with mild to moderately severe hearing loss, using a double-blind cross-over randomized protocol in Brazil. Participants are initially fitted using a minimal service model and are evaluated for effectiveness of both product types after one week. If further customization of device and fitting is required, the participant will receive additional customization and continue with the trial to determine the efficacy of the two products. The participant evaluations include speech perception tests, patient self-report measures of outcomes including SADL, IOI-HA, Glasgow, APHAB. This research aims to provide evidence on the effectiveness of the high performance digitally programmable analogue technology and devices in comparison to the high performance full digital devices in minimal fitting delivery model and a customized fitting delivery models.
