Abstract

Dr. Philippe Boula de Mareüil will collaborate with the project "Prosodic acoustic analysis of spontaneous and ironic speech" (grant CNPq 302657/2015-0 from March 2016 to February 2020). The main goal of this project is the acoustic characterization of spontaneous speech and irony in acted speech. The second group of research activities of this large project is the description of melodic contours in Brazilian Portuguese (BP) and Standard French and the study of the link between production and perception. A special concern is the description of contours in professional speech, especially broadcast news. He will collaborate in a study aiming at comparing broadcast news imitation by natives aof BP and French as well as by Brazilian learners of French and French learners of BP. This study will allow the characterization of this professional use of speech in both languages and in L2. Consequences for the acoustic and perceptual study of speaking styles and teaching of L2 prosody will also be explored. (AU)
