Abstract

This research project aims to study the modularity in complex systems. In this context, a modular analysis of the electric vehicle configuration and a mobile robot will be developed. Modular robots are systems composed of independent units which can be reconfiguration to meet the task. A modular vehicle is likewise a system in which each component can be reconfigured to meet the initial functions required even when one or more components are removed or changed. In this project, the main focus will be the ability of the modules of an electric vehicle to recognize in order to meet the desired configuration, operating similarly to a modular robot. A vast literature research will be made about electric vehicles, modular robots, control systems and the possible tools that can help to identify the modules and the communication between them. The literature will be conducted in order to address all the issues involved in developing the project. To enable the modular structure, the control strategy should also follow the modular design for the engine and its peripherals in order to obtain a robust and secure control. The expected result will be getting the concept of a modular electric vehicle reconfigurable manually in which the modules are recognized and may be suitable for the original setup work. (AU)
