Abstract

In the literature concerning the inverse problems dedicated to the proof of uniqueness for the identification of the source term in Solid Mechanics equations, for example in the wave equation governing the movement of flexible cables, in the Euler-Bernoulli equation to beams, or in the Germain-Lagrange equation for plates, the focus has been almost exclusively on isolated elements. However in real-life structures systems are complex, being combinations of individual elements placed side by side sharing common interfaces. In this work we intend to prove that unique identification of sources is possible in at least two examples of complex structures. One occurs in nature, which are cobwebs; another type of structures are constructed by Man, which are the so-called continuous beams and plates. (AU)
