Abstract

The historical geography of capitalism in the last two centuries is presented as a social process characterized by deep contradictions, ruptures and continuities in the ways in which society engages relations with one another and with the production of the material and objective conditions of their existence. From mere scenario of human actions, the earth's surface becomes, in capitalist society, the object of complex interactions derived from social reproduction and the specific modes of work organization historically determined by the logic of capital accumulation and valorization of value. The universalization of private property of land and the successive separations that mark and characterize capitalist social relations, it confers to the geographical space the status of space-commodity, content of use value and exchange value. In this specific sense, this is, In the perspective of capitalist relations, one can speak of capitalist production and valorization of space through the intrinsic logic of realization of the social processes of reproduction of human life.
