Abstract

The main objective of this research plan is to develop technology to design, assemble and test a focus adjustment mechanism prototype using the concept of refocusing based on thermal control acting on one of the optical system elements. This project aims to add knowledge to further develop focal adjustment devices for thermal control cameras that can be designed to remote sense the Earth. Technological knowledge gained in this research project will enable targeting mechanisms of optical systems, mainly reflective, genuinely Brazilian with the possibility of use of knowledge in future Brazilian missions for Earth observation. To demonstrate the concept of refocusing with thermal control, we will act on one of the mirrors of a reflective optical telescope. (AU)
