Abstract

Sweet potato is the seventh most important food in the world, it being an essential food for the maintenance of food safety. It is a very energetic food, it can be consumed in natura or processed, besides being raw material for alcohol production. The crop is very important for Brazil and it is cultivated in all Brazilian regions. São Paulo State is the 2nd largest producer, however, its productivity is much lower than the crop potential. Presidente Prudente region is a large producer in the state, but also presents low productivity. One of the causes of low production per area unit is the use of few varieties with the required marketable features, it being these materials may not be the most suitable for the region. Thus, in order to maintain the desirable for commercialization skin and pulp colors, the objective of this work was to analyze agronomic characteristics of genotypes from seeds from the crossing of two varieties grown in the region in order to select materials with high commercial productivity and appropriate root format.
