Abstract

Today the state of São Paulo is the largest producer of sugar cane in Brazil, with approximately 367 million tonnes in the 2013/2014 season a total of 653 million. Soon the state of São Paulo is responsible for 56% of the entire crop of sugar cane country. One of the problems decreases the production efficiency is competitive presence of the microorganism in the fermentation step. So quality control is of utmost importance to avoid damage to the industry. Nowadays microbiological analysis are used to identify the microorganisms present in this production step. The contamination by parasites usually occurs during its production in the field and the bacteria is more related to contamination by handlers, equipment (grinders) and utensils used in the extraction liquid. There are currently three types of in vitro diagnostic systems for the determination of contaminants: direct culture of the agent from the biological sample, indirect immunoassay that can detect antibodies against the infectious agent produced during infection and immunological assays based on the detection of antigens. In the first system, the main drawback is the time of analysis and the need for trained personnel to perform the service. In the second method based molecular analysis to detect the contaminant nucleic acids are generally much more sensitive than immunoassays, and for this reason, and to their specificity, they are extremely promising. However, may require the presence of special equipment and qualified personnel. It was recently detection efficiency for pathogens using such modified nanoparticles based colorimetric determination antibodies studied. They have several advantages such as low cost, effective for real-time detection and can be used without having a complete understanding of the principles involved and therefore not requiring highly qualified professional. The microbiology analysis is the most used in the industry and takes on average between 2-7 days to: grow, identify and characterize the bacteria present. As the industry can not stop in the meantime, even without identifying the bacteria they use antibiotics to prevent contamination of the juice from sugar cane. In this regard, we propose the production of a kit for identifying bacteria DSA, instantly based detection using gold nanoparticles modified with antibodies specific for the selective determination of the major contaminants. This kit will facilitate the procedures within the industry leading to a decrease in the time of identification of contaminants. (AU)
