Abstract

The combination of mobile wireless access networks with users' interest in a specific content, instead of the source of this content, is a complex challenge that has been investigated in the literature. Part of the complexity is due to the dynamics of wireless networks and part is due to the initial design of the Internet, which imposed prior knowledge of the content source. An alternative to solve both challenges is to assume that the content is hosted in a cloud computing infrastructure and that users do not need to know how this cloud is organized. Although it seems that this idea is already widespread, the provision of efficient interaction between the cloud and mobile users is not yet consolidated. Hence, the MC2 Project aims to study various proposals to improve the content distribution in mobile networks, focusing particularly on the following issues: (i) availability and efficiency of content distribution, taking into account (ii) the dynamics of the mobile network and (iii) the organization of the cloud computing infrastructure, as well as the interaction with its users. The goal of this project is to find interactions between these three pillars that allow a better provision of services with quality to the users. (AU)
