Abstract

This research proposal had the objective of acquiring an infrared camera to investigate fundamental aspects and applications involving processes of heat transfer with phase change. The specific objectives of this proposal are the following: (1) Application of infrared thermography to the study of the physical mechanisms during convective boiling in microchannels and the development of high performance heat sinks based on convective boiling in multi-microchannels; (2) Development of instrumentation and control techniques for heat transfer with phase change applied to pulsating heat pipes; (3) Theoretical and experimental study of convective boiling and critical heat flux in annular channels using HFC; (4) Study of nucleate boiling of hydrous ethanol fuel; (5) Application of nanotechnology to thermal conversion processes and energy generation (FAPESP grant 2013/15431-7); (6) Investigation of the homogeneous nucleation of bubbles within oil-refrigerant mixtures; (7) Experimental study on falling film absorption process for ammonia-water mixture; (8) Theoretical and experimental analysis of physical parameters affecting the heat transfer performance of falling film evaporators applied to water desalination.
