Abstract

Touch Trigger Probes was developed in 1972 to assist measurements on Coordinate Measurements Machines. Later, due CNCs technological advances, the use of these equipments was spread to Machine Tools inspections, where they are used for measurements and calibrations based on projects specifications, dimensional control of parts manufactured, tool compensation, fast setup, process statistical data acquisition and much more. The use of Touch Trigger Probes attached to CNC Machines has become a world standard. Nowadays, part of the new Machine Tools already has a built-in Touch Trigger probes attached. However, some barriers still need to be transposed, like the high costs of these equipments, which hinder it to be bought from small and medium size companies. Based on the works presented by the researcher during his Masters, this work proposes the development of new 3D touch trigger signal methods for touch trigger probes to be used on machines tools, using domestic technologies focusing on low costs.
