Abstract

The main goal of this project is to develop a relativistic version of the effective quasi-particle approximation and use it to study the isoscalar and isovector pairing fields in relativistic nuclear matter. The starting point of this development will be the relativistic version of the self-consistent Green's function formalism, but numerical calculations will be performed in the effective quasi-particle approximation only. To permit a more inclusive comparison with non-relativistic calculation in the literature, we intend to begin the project by making the relatively simple modifications in the code that will permit it to take into account the effects of temperature.
