Abstract

Lúcio Cardoso (1912-1968) was one of the most important authors in introspective / psychological Brazilian novels. Cardoso was also one of the first writers to break with the Brazilian novelist method of showing the women as stereotypes associated with reality. In this aspect, Lúcio Cardoso integrates a new tendency in the configuration of female in Brazilian literature. This research intends: 1) to find how the author configures his female characters, 2) to compare both Cardoso's options (introspective novel and female characters), how they determine themselves reciprocally, and 3) to list which literature tradition sources Cardoso dialogues to delineate his women. In this work, the theoretical framework will be found in psychoanalysis, in hermeneutic and in history, without losing Cardoso's work textually reference. (AU)
