Abstract

In this project, we intend to continue the development of the photometric redshift method based on the technique Locally Weighted Regression and apply it to identify large scale structures. During his Masters work, the student implemented, tested and applied a photometric redshift estimator using that technique. This estimator should be enhanced and its incorporation to a hybrid algorithm, which also uses artificial neural nets and/or templates, will be evaluated. We will also investigate detection of large scale structures using photometric redshifts. Our techniques will be applied first to the databases of Sloan Digital Sky Survey and Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope Legacy Survey.
