Abstract

Performance analysis of a wireless network demands suitable models. In order to obtain an appropriate performance measurement in a wireless ad hoc multihop network, some parameters that are inherent to these networks must be considered. Based on the network capacity as an evaluation performance measurement, the concept of Total Information Efficiency is proposed. It is defined as the instantaneous sum of information efficiency of each active link. This measurement evaluates the channel spatial reuse of the network based on the active one hop link density for the employed transmission system. From a reformulation of the total information efficiency and from an extended analysis which includes the packet transmission delay in the network, this project focuses on investigating tradeoffs between network variables, such as, one-hop transmission spectral efficiency, number of links and transmission delay.
