Abstract

The objective of this project is to analyse the results of the inclusion of the corona effects in transmission line models developed for electromagnetic transient simulations in electrical power systems. The transmission line model will be represented by a cascade of PI circuits and the frequency dependence of the longitudinal parameters will be synthesized with series and parallel association of the resistors and inductors. The corona effect will be represented by an analytical model where corona a capacitance is dependent on both the voltage and the rate of change of the voltage. Using this line representation, a state model will be formulated for the transmission line using the currents and voltages along the line as the state variables. The model will be used to simulate electromagnetic transients in a two-phase line.
