Abstract

Among many environmental components, climate and soil can contribute to high agricultural yields or even impose thresholds to this and other activities. The Pontal do Paranapanema is an area, like all others parts of the planet, undergoes the climatic factors actions that control the human activities. This climatic ascendancy plus the different types of soils can both increase or decrease yield production, and had an affect on the economy of all who depends on this activity. The goal of the proposed study is to analyse the climatic systems that have affect on the region, the rain behaviour and the relationship established with the substantial soil classes. Applying the water balance by the Thornthwaite and Mather methodology, using the alterations introduced by Ranzani (1971)aiming to draw a spatial distribuition of the numeric results from the water balance, mapping areas showing higher yield and the ones showing high risks of yield decrease in the Pontal do Paranapanema.
