Abstract

The cerrado is considered the savannah with the richest flora among the world. It is also a hot spot of global biodiversity, as has already lost more than 70% of its original area and has high degree of endemism of species. The anthropic action from the formation of pasture and crops is causing a significant drop in areas of occurrence of species typical of the savannah, leading some to the risk of extinction. Studies of genetic diversity in natural populations of the savannah, are an important alternative to the description of levels of genetic variation within populations maintained, and the way in which this variation is divided between people. It is proposed to conduct these studies for the species Qualea grandiflora, of the family VOCHYSIACEAE, covering the states of Sao Paulo and Parana, in broad sampling of areas. Thus it will be possible to provide information about the interaction of features of the landscape with microevolution processes such as gene flow and selection of species. The species has suitability for use in reforestation and restoration of degraded areas, and various uses for wood. Is the methodology used in the study of molecular markers codominants, microsatellits (SSR), with development of primers for the specific study of Q. grandiflora. The results provide subsidies for strategies to management, conservation and breeding for the species in question.
