Abstract

The nitrogen fertilization is a practice usually used by farmer of common bean. The farmers do not use results of soil or plant analysis or another orientation method, so the nitrogen fertilization is quantified by visual analysis or based on the traditional recommendation, which considers the productivity expectation and the report of the area. If nitrogen fertilization be underestimated, it happens reduction in the revenue of grains and if it be overestimated, it happens increase of the costs, for unnecessary use of fertilizer and, consequently, damages to the environment due to leaching of nitrate. The study has as objective to evaluate the effect of doses, sources and times of nitrogen application and to evaluate the use of the chlorophyll meter as indicative instrument of nitrogen need in winter common bean plant cropped in no till system. The experiment will be conducted in Selvíria county - MS, in a soil originally under savannah vegetation. The experimental design will be a randomized block with the treatments disposed in a factorial scheme (5x3x2). The treatments will be constituted by five doses of nitrogen (zero, 50, 100, 150, 200 kg ha-1), three sources of nitrogen (Entec - ammonium sulfonitrate with nitrification inhibitor; Ammonium sulfate and Urea) and two application times (at sowing or at sidedressing), with four repetitions. They will be appraised the production components and the productivity, besides readings in chlorophyll meter trying to indicate the best time of application of the nitrogen, as well as dose and source, by this technique.
