Abstract Manoel Bergström Lourenço Filho is considered by many researchers one of the greatest protagonists of the Brazilian educational scenery in the middle of twentieth century. In his works, he is worried about the teachers background, about the influence and the importance of Biology, of Psychology and Sociology for the Education, besides constantly supporting the principles of "escolanovismo". In this context, this project searchs to analyze , in the works from the series "Education Library", by Lourenço Filho, the conceptions of child and childish development, searching to put in a context in the Brazilian society in the middle of the twentieth century (1920-70). Our purpose is to investigate how Lourenço Filho, by means of this collection, has disclosed the development of Psycology and/or the child in the period of new schools in Brazil. For this, we intend to ransom his ideas, classics from the Brazilian Education, because there is, in spite of his recognition for the divulgation of the "escolanovistas" ideals in Brazil, a great lack of studies about his importance for the divulgation of the Psycology of Development known in Brazil. | |
