Abstract

The city of São Paulo presents a mosaic of different atmospheric conditions, derived from different urban patterns. Atmospheric conditions represent important environmental factor for respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. The aim of this project is to verify how climatic conditions in a space within the city can aggravate respiratory and cardiovascular problems of vulnerable groups. Daily climatic data will be obtained in two meteorological stations: from The Instituto Astronômico e Geofísico of the University of São Paulo and from Congonhas Airport, for the period 2003/2007. Data of daily hospital admissions (AIH)from DATASUS data bank will be analysed in order to understand the effects of climatic conditions on the local urban population.
