Abstract

This study aims the understanding of the productivity changes that occurred in the south-southeastern Brazilian continental margin, during Mid and Late Holocene, through micropalentological (benthic and planktonic foraminifera) and geochemical (stable isotope d13C e d15N in organic matter, and d13C e d18O in benthic foraminifera shells, trace elements contents (i.e. Fe, Ba, Ca)) analysis in cores collected along the continental shelf in the Itajaí (SC), Cananéia (SP) e Santos (SP) and Cabo Frio (RJ) areas.This will allow an evaluation of the evolution of the south-southeastern Brazilian continental shelf in the last thousand years, mainly related to oceanic productivity. In an attempt to better comprehend the mechanisms that control paleoenvironmental and paleoproductivity changes, seeking relationship with regional and local climatic changes.
