Abstract

This decade is indicating a change in the orientation of the Science and Technology Policy (STP) in Latin America. The government spending is being directed increasingly to innovative business activities, which suggests an intention of governments to promote an increase in the propensity of local firms to undertake R&D. Characterize the change, assess their results and implications is the main objective of this project. It deepens the assessment for the Brazilian case (Bagattolli, 2008) and extends to other Latin American countries while maintaining the perspective of analysis focused on Latin-American Thought on Science, Technology and Society (Dagnino, Thomas and Davyt, 1996).
