Abstract

Nowadays, the body aquatics' contamination by agrochemicals residue, is one of the principals concerns on the preservation of aquatic biotic, therefore the basic knowledge of the effects that these products can cause to non-targets organisms is fundamental to take a decision on the environment quality assessment. The glyphosate is the most used herbicide in the world and, nowadays, one of the formulations most applied is the Roundup Ready (RR) on the production of corn, soy and cotton transgenics. In fishes, the gill and liver are the main targets of any xenobiotic. The effects and the action mechanism of the contaminats can be evaluated by analysis morpho-functional of these organs. So, the objective of this research are evaluated the toxicity of the glyphosate herbicide on Roundup Ready® formulation and the answers of the antioxidants defense system on the gill and liver of pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus), a representative specie of the mainly brazilian's watershed of southeast and mid-western, areas of great agricultural importance.
