Abstract

From the computational-linguistic perspective this project focuses on the formal description of the lexicon from the conceptual domain labeled THE EMBROIDERY INDUSTRY OF IBITINGA and its mapping to the corresponding English lexicon. The motivation is both theoretical and applied research for it is investigated part of the lexical-grammatical aspects of both languages and the application of this knowledge to the development of digital products such as electronic lexicographic works and linguistic resources for natural language processing. Its theoretical and methodological underpinnings rest on works from two sound paradigms: current semantic field research (e.g. research on wordnets) and unification-based grammars (e.g. HPSG and Construction Grammar. Keywords: lexicon; lexical-grammar; semantic network; ontology; natural language processing. (AU)
