Abstract This experiment has like general objective to evaluate the tolerance to the heat in ovine beef breeds. The work will be composed in three stages driven in different places. The first stage will be driven in the University of Evora, in the city of Evora, in Portugal, using 40 animals of the White Merino breed. The second one will be driven in the University of Sao Paulo, Faculty of Zootechny and Food Engineering, situated in the Pirassununga city, SP, and it will use 40 animals of the Santa Inês breed. And the third stage will be driven in the particular property Cardinal Farm, situated in the Mococa city, SP, using 40 animals of the Dorper breed. The rectal temperatures data will be registered for evaluation of the thermolyses capacity, indicative of heat tolerance. The rectal temperature will be registered to 13h, after two rest hours to the shadow, and to 14h30, after an hour of exhibition to the solar straight radiation and half an hour of rest to the shadow. Together with the registers of the rectal temperatures also there will be measured the superficial temperatures and the respiratory and sweating rates. | |
