Abstract

This research project seeks to apply the computational techniques of stereoscopic vision to construct a device for measuring angles of alignment of vehicle suspension using a low cost camera. Currently, most devices for measuring alignment angles of the suspension of vehicles is based on the use of electromechanical components such as resistive pendulum, capacitive goniometer, opto-mechanical devices (mirrors and projection of monochromatic light of low intensity). The fact that image sensors (CMOS or CCD type) have a relatively low cost and appropriate quality makes it possible to use cameras and computer vision techniques in the measurement of automobile suspension parameters. It is believed that this application will result in the creation of a simple and functional prototype, which could be offered as an option for low-cost product into the market of equipment for automotive centers.
