Abstract

The two-photon absorption polymerization technique allows the fabrication of complex three-dimensional microstructures with high spatial resolution. Methods for doping such microstructures have been recently developed aiming at application in optics, photonics and biology. Despite the recent advances in the doping of microstructures fabricated by two-photon polymerization, there are still no methods allowing the doping of microstructures with more than one organic compounds (dopant). he goal of this project is to develop a technique for fabricating microstructures, by two-photon absorption polymerization, that can be selectively doped with distinct organic compounds (fluorescent probes). To accomplish such task it is necessary to develop the opto-mechanical system, including the computer interface, as well as doping strategies. In a second step of the project, after the initial development of the methodology, the fabricated microstructures will be doped with the antibiotics tetracycline-ydrochloride, in order to show the possibilities of such technique in the control of bacterial growth in three-dimensional microstructures.This research project is part of two other main FAPESP projects: "Centro de Pesquisa em Óptica e Fotônica" (CePOF - CEPID - 98/14270-8) and "Microfabricação e microestruturação em materiais poliméricos utilizando laser de femtossegundos" (FAPESP - Indivivual - 2008/00652-0)
