Abstract

The genus Heliura Butler, 1876 (Noctuidae, Arctiinae) comprises 43 species of Neotropical distribution with a problematic taxonomy not yet studied in detail. This project proposes a revision and a cladistic analysis of Heliura based on morphological studies. We intend to delimit the genus based on exclusive characters. Also, the present study will contribute to the establishment of groups of species to be redescribed. We will also provide a better comprehension of the geographical distribution of Heliura species and classification on Arctiinae; when possible, the biology of the species will also be studied and described.
