Abstract

Published in 2003, Mínimos, múltiplos, comuns, from the southern writer João Gilberto Noll is a singular and instigating book for the field of literary studies. The statement is based in the object of its content: there are three hundred and thirty eight minimal narratives - of about one hundred thirty words each - that cover the theme human Creation in his western point of view. The present research has the aim of reflecting about the issues that sorround the composition, the way of publishing, the author intent and the consequences of on the perception of such piece of work. One can also say that the shape of the narratives allow a broad reflection about the bounderies and the defining lines of the short story style. The texts were produced for publication on the Relâmpagos section inside Ilustrada of Folha de São Paulo newspaper, where the author published from August 1998to December 2001 . For the publication in the book format, João Gilberto Noll and the reviwer Wagner Carelli chose to elaborate five large bags of contents that are divided to compose a kind of organogram of the human trajectory as well as of all that surrounds us. from this idea comes the title: it fits the minimum that becomes the multiple, where the common relations are kept. This way the narration starts in something that in a little time becomes Genesis. After that, there is the concentrating of elements that allow the appearence of the creatures. These interact in the world until they get to the return point. This division, on its turn, the subdivisions that are shown reveal the authoral conscience that the book, as a vehicle for transmiting ideas, is also a meaning generator, without, meanwhile, loosing the reader and so directed their apreension to the contents of the narration. Such elaboration shows the character of the writer, of what he describes and prtoposes, his point of view about the conception and organization of the world. Is also through this that the contemporary , chaotic and lonely subject is represented and interpreted. Noll´s writings are borderline poetic. His texts carry a deep descriptive character and sen us to states of vegue, inconciousness and to the unbeliveble. All these elements make the reading of the material a source of pleasure.
