Abstract

This master's thesis project, entitled "Multiculturalism in Information Science: perceptions and actions of Information in school libraries," aims to highlight the importance of libraries for studies in multicultural education. This study focused on the laws of social inclusion in Brazil, examines multicultural issues under víeis racial and yours economic, social and symbolic. The work is also limited geographically to the city of Florianopolis. In order to achieve this goal, we divide our presentation of the project in three parts. At first, we present a theoretical discussion that will base our work. It is a reflection on the relationship between multicultural studies from the perspective of Information Science and Librarianship, emphasizing the relationship and the subsequent role that libraries its insertion in the changes of cultural approaches in Brazil. Also outlined some pointers on the role of information professionals within this panorama. Literature reviews as they are justified in the sense of being an exercise of systematization and conceptualization are essential for any research work. Secondly, it presents the research problem and the systemization of objectives. Finally, we present the methodology, work plan, implementation schedule, materials needed and how to analyze the results
