Abstract

Postural evaluation is an essential tool in the diagnosis alignment of body segments of an individual and is widely used by the physical therapists and physical education, constituting an initial step and monitoring and evaluation for physical therapy and prescription of physical activity . In 2005, the prof. Marcos Duarte coordinated a project to develop a software postural assessment. This software, known as SAPO, has been widely used by scientific and professional. The site that hosts content related to software SAPO, http://sapo.iv.fapesp.br, has averaged more than 300 unique visits monthly and is the 13th Busiest among the more than 500 projects hosted at RubyForge FAPESP. These numbers demonstrate the great impact and responsiveness of this tool in our society. However, the program SAPO has limitations that should be corrected to better and greater use by the scientific and professional. The overall objective of this study is to develop a software free and open to evaluation of posture in the improvement program SAPO.
