Abstract

This works main aim is to propose an interpretative route through a part of Armando Freitas Filho's poetry, grounded on the hypothesis of the presence in this oeuvre of a field of questions presented here as "the difficulty of writing". This field of questions refers to the reflexion on poetic writing carried out by the author, which is based on the idea of a limitation of language in apprehending the real. The work proposes a reading route informed by the attempt to demonstrate the tensions which structure the authors project, project that we consider to be based in the dramatization of the articulation of a crave for apprehendig the real through poetry and a reflexion on the limitations of this attempt. We will depart from the demonstration of the continuous presence of this tension along different moments of the oeuvre, however paying attention to its different meanings in the different poetic proposals made by the poet and attempting to demonstrate its impacts on the formal and thematic conceptions of the books. We will trace reading lines from the "numeral" series in order to get to questions and solutions that appear conspicuously in this first corpus and also in the core of longa vida (1982), Cabeça de homem (1991), Duplo cego (1997) and Fio terra (2000).
