Abstract

AbstractThe project aims to study the material dimension of the social representations over the city of São Paulo in the period of 1940-1970. For this, we will raise the professional network established around photography in this period: photography studios, photographic products traders and other professionals connected to the photographic production. The start point of the research is the history of the Fotolabor studio (1940-1970), property of the Werner and Geraldo Haberkorn brothers. The Fotolabor studio was one of the biggest postcards editors between the decades of 1940 and 1960. The studio also produced industrial photos, advertising photos, photocopies, blueprints and other products related to the image reproduction. The approach to the photographic circuit of production and consumption through a case study seeks to contribute to the comprehension of the social representations in São Paulo metropolis.
