Abstract

Diamantina is a city which is situated to the North of Minas Gerais and lived his greatest moment of luxury and power during the course of the Diamond - Eighteenth Century - a period in which the city flourished and were erected the most beautiful jewels of the Camp, the colonial churches ; buildings belonging to the Baroque / rococo, such buildings have an amazing expressiveness, especially in existing paintings on the ceiling. Leaving Diamantina and retracing the route of the pioneers meet along the way in the city of Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo state in the church of the Carmelite Third Order, which worries us, such is the similarity of the ceiling painting that is there with the city Diamantina. Based on this similarity, the present study aims to investigate whether there was influence of the school of painting Diamantina about the painter who executed the work of the church of Mogi. And analyze the authorship of this painting, as well as churches diamantinenses due to lack of studies on these works.
