Abstract

The collection of stories entitled A Casa de Vidro, written by Ivan Angelo, was published in the symbolic year 1979. As with other historical documents of the period, the book arouses readers in the hope of finding a reflection, even if blurred, about the military dictatorship and subsequent political distension in Brazil. Contrary to what is expected, however, most of the stories tell about everyday urban violence, not repressive violence, linked to state power. Thus, we are interested in investigating, in light of the theory of "potential testmonial" in cultural production, representation of violence in the tales of A Casa de Vidro. Seek to understand what types of violence are portrayed -their dealings with powers - and how they are aesthericized. Finally, like a spiderweb, such representations will be related to other discourses on violence: literary, cinematic, historical, philosophical and journalistic discourses, where it will be searched points of contact that can assist in the conceptualization of violence.
