Abstract

The shrimp is one of the main aquaculture products in Brazil, but there is great concern about what the disposal of the used water can cause to the environment, so since the 90's effort has been made to create systems with fewer or no exchange water, using carbon sources and bioflakes to try to keep the ammonia concentration at acceptable levels. After fertilization the eggs hatch as nauplii, 14h after the spawning. The larval period of the L. vannamei consists of six phases as nauplius, three as protozoea and three as mysis (Kitano, 1986), performing the final metamorphosis to post-larvae with approximately 0.88 to 3.00 mm (Kitano, 1993).Because invertebrates in general do not have an immune system with memory, the innate immune system is essential for the survival of these invertebrates. So this study will examine the effect of the environment ( heterortrofic system) on the nonspecific immune system of shrimp Litopeus vannamei
