Abstract

Brazilian Christian son has been observed as a sociocultural phenomenon that demands multidisciplinary interpretations. Theomusicology, as a theologically-informed musicological area that does not renounce the acknowledgment of Sociology and Cultural Studies, intends to verifying the theological interpretations presents in religious song. Our objective is to examine the theological understandings and the cosmovision that pass by the models of Brazilian Christianity sacred music production, and particularly, its protestant side. This research also introduces Theomusicology in a pioneer way to the Brazilian musicological studies as a necessary tool of analysis of the theological thought that is revealed by religious musical practices.
