Abstract

This research project is a continuation of "The Song of the media: memory and nomadism," I have been doing since 2004, with the collaboration of researchers from the Center for Music and Media Studies - MusiMid This new research intends to carry on a project started a few years ago and concerns the French song, which had a significant impact on Brazilian culture. Nevertheless, it has not received more consistent academic studies proposed here. More particularly, this study is dedicated to what to "love song." Well-defined the period from the late 1930s until the late 1970s, a time when the international song of European matrix loses prominence, giving place to rock genres and English pop and regional repertoires that come out Rio-São Paulo axis. We adopt the concepts of "Song of the media" (VALENTE, 2003) and "nomadism" (ZUMTHOR, 1997), to analyze how the song expresses, informs, supports, presents cultural traits which make reference and which is linked. Objectives: based on a discographic repertoire broadcasted on radio programs, as well as testimonials from people, we intend to analyze, among others, aspects such as: 1) the relationship between hearing and musical memory, 2) the impact of permanence of artists from Francophone song (especially the French one) and the emergence of "Brazilian versions", launched by the local music market; 3) as this segment of present songs in the media are present in ordinary people's daily lives, especially in the metropolitan cities. Results: We propose, among other possible ones: 1) three articles to be published in a specialized journal, containing a summary of the results of the project; 2) a database containing the most representative discography of French songs, released in Brazil. With this, it opens the possibility of developing other research subprojects, allowing addressing more broader the criteria of aesthetic taste and imagination shared by the community of listeners ; 3 ) the promotion of a scientific meeting, international character; a selection of the most significant texts is intended for publication, in the form of a book or special issue of a journal, to the extent possible, 4) to the extent possible, register will be testimonials from memorialists, artists, music producers, broadcasters, music critics and other people, in order to create a database of audiovisual data to be inserted in MusiMid page.
