Abstract

Agricultural systems seek more and more the efficiency use of available natural resources. Phosphorus (P) plays an important role as essential to agricultural production, although finite and irreplaceable. Low source of P is related to its low availability in tropical soils and the strong interaction with soil, which reduces the soluble portion. The varieties of coffee, having different growth and development, might have patterns of absorption and transportation of P in various tissues and thus change in the efficiency of utilization of available P in the soil. One factor that can increase the efficiency of phosphorus is the supply of magnesium (Mg), since this nutrient acts as the carrier of P for plants, for his role in the activation of membrane ATPase involved in absorption, production of ATP, photosynthesis and respiration. The objective of this work is to identify the most efficient and/or responsive cultivars to P, P fractions present in the cultivars and to verify the dose of magnesium that would increase the efficiency of phosphate fertilization.
