Abstract

This project of research is inserted in the debate about the Brazilian urbanistic thought between 1940-1960 and entailed with the research "Institutions of Urbanism in Brazil (1930-1979)", co-ordinated by the Profa. Dra. Sarah Feldman, that has for objective study the institutions of created urbanism in Brazil in that period, unmask as if it gives the construction process of practics and ideas mobilized and assimilated by urbanism institutions, as these determine the professional field of the city planners, and the forms for which these practics and ideas were accomodate or transforme in different political contexts. In this debate, the project have as reference SAGMACS’ studies, that it was distinguished in that period with the elaboration of important researchs about th brazilian urban planning. Co-ordinated by the dominican French priest Louis-Joseph Lebret and influenced by the ideas of the international movement Économie et Humanisme, the SAGMACS acted in diverse Brazilian cities between 1940 and 1960, emphasizing in its studies the cooperation between State, technician and population in the urban planning. A lot of the SAGMACS’ ideas and practics, that contrasted with the ones of the time, had been spread out through professionals that they had worked in the institution and that, later, had worked in agencies of urban planning and other institutions that were out of administration. With analysis preliminary by the primary (Pd. Lebret, SAGMACS and Economia and Humanismo’ studies) and secondary documents (bibliographical production of the main authors that argue the urban question in that period), was identified that the detailed analysis of the SAGMACS’ ideas and practics and your repercussion in the field of urbanism through the professionals that had worked in the institution still was not carried yet, what it points with respect to a gap of scientific knowledge. Therefore, the general objectives of this research are: a) to understand the SAGMACS’ conception about the cooperation between State, population and technician in the brazilian urban planning between years 1940-1960; b) to analyze as the diffusion of the institution’ practics and ideas through Brazilian professionals who had worked in the SAGMACS. To reach the objectives of this project, will be developed a bibliographical research, a documentary research and interviews. (AU)
