Abstract Recent effort has been devoted to the understanding of the connections between quantum information and the theory of quantum critical phenomena. A key novel observation is that quantumentanglement can play an important role in a quantum phase transition. In this project we want to investigate the role of state entanglement, as a typical quantum correlation, in processes of phase transition of many particles systems. Two main goals are outlined for this project: (I) The search for a good measure of multipartite entanglement with a relevant physical meaning, andcapable to represent the critical behaviour around the quantum phase transition; (II) the investigation of the coexistence of correlations of exclusively quantum nature (entanglement) withcorrelations of classical nature and their behaviour around the critical regime of continuous phase transitions. | |
