Abstract

Signal compression techniques are indispensable in many areas of Engineering, like the telecommunication and biomedical areas. In this project the orthogonalization of a basis generated from the original signals is proposed as a procedure for the compression of these signals. The signal is recovered from the basis (set of signals) by the representation coefficients. The proposed technique will be applied to biological signals (eletrocardiogram) and compared to techniques based on classical wavelets.
