Abstract

The language is a cognitive intriguing function due to the depth with which it is wrapped by several cerebral functions. At present several studies discuss the cognitive interface between the language, the memory, the executive functions, the attention and perception, in several types of aphasia. Between the biggest controversies, the link stands out between processing of the language and the cognitive performance as a whole. The cognitive alteration acquired through this pathology includes a scale of variations depending on the place of the cerebral injury, on his gravity and extension in the dominant hemisphere for the language. In this way, the expression and / or the verbal understanding, the reading and the writing are predominantly the targets of the deficits of language. However, other cognitive functions present damaged performance when affectionate-partner and professional are causing a great upset in the life of individuals. (AU)
